This was the first release from the funk group that came out of East Orange, New Jersey, made up of brothers William, Michael, and Kenny Young and lead by William and Buddy Hankerson with drummer Dave Reyes rounding out the group.

The group started in 1970 as the Young Movement, then renaming themselves as Flashflood in 1974 they recorded with R&B groups Slave and Aurra. When vocalist and sole female member Jackie Thomas joined in 1979 they first changed their name to Young & Co.

Among the first three tracks they demoed was "I Like What You're Doing To Me" which helped secure a contract with Brunswick Records. When released, this single sold over 250,000 in the USA alone, yet never made the R&B or the Hot100. The song spent 21 weeks on the disco chart peaking at #15 in July of 1980.

The group later recorded for Sounds Of London and Atlantic Records but nothing connected like "I Like" and they continued to release unsuccessful dance singles like the #47 "Strut Your Stuff" in 1981 and then rebounding in 1986 with "Such A Feeling" that made it to #14. In 1987 they regrouped as The Youngs, releasing one disco single "Romance By The DJ" that did not chart.

"I Like What You Are Doing To Me" was remixed in 1994 but did not chart and then in 2018 Young & Co. reappeared with "Send Chills", then released "Rock Rap Me (In Your Loving) in the 90's. This song continues to have an impact, as it's been sampled by several other artists, including Black Sheep on their song "Strobelite Honey" in 1991.
