Word Sound Power's second venture, the Blood Earth project, began in June 2011 with a visit to Kucheipadar, a khonda tribal village in South Orissa. Travelling with a mobile recording studio, musical production gear and a camera, Word Sound Power collaborated with local singers and musicians in this village which had been at the forefront of an awe inspiring and intensely dynamic people's movement in the last two decades. Having come together in order to resist displacement and environmental devastation by a ruthless corporation and corrupt police forces, revolutionary songs had always been an important part of this movement.

The result is a cross genre mash up fusing these revolutionary movement songs in Oriya and the Kui tribal language from the area with dub poetry by Delhi Sultanate and electronic music production by Chris McGuinness. For Blood Earth, Word Sound Power has produced four songs and a short film, edited and shot by Kush Badhwar, documenting the collaborative process and contextualizing the music. Blood Earth explores the relationship between music and struggle, cultural responses to violence and the inherent power of words and sound.
