Mortal Kombat 11 is an ultra-violent fighting game, where characters fight each other to the death.
This instalment introduces a new mechanic: Fatal Blows. Similar to X-Rays, Fatal Blows are powerful moves that cause a large amount of damage, comparable to "Super Moves" found in various other fighting games.
These moves consist of a short sequence of attacks that zoom in on specific strikes that deal the most damage in the sequence.
And while in previous games, it was believable for the opponent to survive the blow, since we only saw ribs or leg bone getting crushed,, here it becomes absolutely insane.
Characters are getting their throat slit, their skull perforated, and their eyes stabbed, but they immediately stand back up, since this move only deals like ¼ of your health bar.
These are pretty much fatalities, except the character is still alive by the end of it.
