Before he became one of the biggest immigrant success stories in the world, before he launched his first business, before he came to the United States with $20 in his pocket, before his father became a political prisoner, and before he had to work in a labor camp to support his family, Charlie Zhang was a boy with a dream. In this motivating and emotional talk, Zhang shows the power a single moment can have in shaping the rest of our lives.

From humble beginnings in his native Shanghai, Charles Zhang came to America in 1980 with twenty dollars in his pocket. He worked as a dishwasher and gas station attendant before founding Pick Up Stix, the popular take-out chain, and Zion Enterprises, a real estate company dedicated to revitalizing communities. He has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and is the winner of the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor, recognized by Congress and awarded to immigrants who have made a significant contribution to the United States.
