Overview of the life of Amos P. Catlin from when he came to California in 1849 and settled at Mormon Island to mine for gold until his death in 1900 in Sacramento. Catlin organized the Natoma Water and Mining Co. ditch, wrote the Senate bill to permanently move California's Capital from Benicia to Sacramento, and argued before the U.S. Supreme Court for the original map of the Leidesdorff land grant. Amos Catlin would become a much respected attorney, serve on California's Board of Equalization, and be elected a Sacramento Superior Court Judge in 1890. The video visits several of the sites he called home and where the important Natoma ditch water project was begun. The book "Amos P. Catlin, The Whig Who Put Sacramento On The Map", available in ebook and paperback at Amazon.
