On the afternoon of May 27, 1997, an incredibly violent wedge EF5/F5 tornado (multi-vortex) hit Jarrell Texas, an area near Austin and Waco, this tornado first started as a thin rope tornado that was very photogenic, but soon became an F5 monster, completely flattening multiple subdivisions. This is similar to recent tornadoes like Rolling Fork or Mayfield.
