THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG "THE CALM OF MY STORM" by Metos Binay-an
I came to know the Lord, Jesus at a very young age through my aunt who is a strong believer in Christ. As a 9-year-old child, I have the joy of reading my bible, the joy of praying for families and for other people. The overwhelming joy of going to home bible studies and attending Sunday Services.
Though I have this childhood foundation–growing up wasn't easy at all. I have a lot of questions. Then I started to doubt the presence of God in my life but my heart refused to give up in believing the Good God.
I've been through many trials but what happened to me in 2008 was one of my darkest moments in life. It was my first time to work overseas and I was suffering from extreme pain and at the same time I was struggling in my relationship with my family. I never expect in my entire life to be caught in a situation that brought me a horrible trauma. I was full of fears and worries but the Holy Spirit led me to think of all the things I enjoyed doing when I was a child then He helped me to thank the Lord even if my mind refused to.
I was alone in my room crying and shouting out of anger, I read out loud every verse challenging HIM. Then I fell asleep and woke up with inner peace and strength within me.
The next day, I was able to write this song–the song says it all.
