On 11/21/2023, Arkansas State Trooper Tyler Gentry stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier on US Highway 67 and County Road 53 in Miller County for following too close and an expired plate. The driver identified himself as Jerry Brexton which was later discovered to be a fake name. Trooper Gentry utilized a fingerprint scanner to identify the driver who was then positively identified as Jerry W Beard Jr, who is on parole. Upon ordering Mr. Beard out of the vehicle, he fled, initiating a vehicle pursuit. During the pursuit, Mr. Beard swerved at several innocent motorists. Spike strips were eventually deployed and a PIT maneuver was then utilized to end the pursuit. Mr. Beard was taken into custody and transported to the Miller County Jail where he was lodged. Mr. Beard was charges with felony fleeing and a parole violation amongst other charges. He is being held at the Miller County Jail on a $10000 bond.
