Major Nick Bradley has returned to Brussels to coordinate resistance ahead of the Allied advance. Alain is captured upon seeking to avoid forced-labor conscription. When it is discovered that his papers are forged, he is held and tortured by the Gestapo. Bradley is determined to recover Alain, because of what he knows and as he is the only person in the group who transmits via wire to London. Bradley makes a deal with a German officer, using both Lifeline funds and a loan from a Belgian businessman in order to offer a bribe. The Germans try to substitute another man for Alain when the exchange is made, but they are caught by Resistance guards and forced to deliver Alain. Bradley and company shoot the two Germans after the exchange and recover the bribe.
