A storm of thoughts sometimes descends on my mind, bleak and grey. Unlike a thunderstorm, you cannot run away from your mind. Instead, for just a moment, I lean into the darkness and discover that my thoughts cannot harm me, and that this experience is just as awake with life and mystery as any other. Even as that realization fades and my psyche descends back into rumination, the memory of a tranquil sunlit hour sustains me.
