Anyone considering a new main in maplestory needs to use the arcane catalyst item. I discuss what arcane catalyst is and what it does. After the new v227 patch, arcane symbols can exceed the max growth value of the current level, meaning that you can keep adding symbols even though it has reached the max amount for a particular level. This means, if you want to have a second or third main, it is much easier to get symbols and much cheaper compared to before. Previously, you had to basically pay for twice the amount to get a symbol on another character if you were to use the arcane catalyst (once while you are getting/leveling it on your main, and once after transfer to level it back up). Now, you can stack it all the way until max level amount of symbols on your main and then transfer over to your other character. Keep in mind that you will need the symbol to be at least level 2. You lose 20% of the symbol amount in the process, but it is still worth! On my lv270 main, I only have to do 1 daily from each arcane river area. But on my other characters (which have lower levels), I'd have to do 1-6 quests per region to get the same amount of symbols.
