For Earth Day, “I am a Tree” from composer/performer Majel Connery’s song cycle, The Rivers are our Brothers. Inspired by the Sierra Nevada mountains, the piece explores different elements of the region’s natural beauty and gives each of these elements a voice. Co-commissioned with Musica Sierra, the song cycle invites us to consider humans as a part of nature’s family rather than separate from it.
