READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE ENGLISH PHRASE, "PICK UP THE PACE": So in this English lesson, I'm going to help you learn the English phrase "pick up the pace." This has two meanings. It has a literal meaning. When I'm out walking for exercise, sometimes I go too slow and it's not really exercise, it's more like a stroll, so I need to pick up the pace. I need to go faster. So the English phrase "to pick up the pace" means to go faster. But we don't just use this when we're walking or running. We can use this at work as well or for other things. Maybe at work, you're working on a project and it needs to be done in one week and you're a little bit behind. Well, that would be a good time to pick up the pace. Maybe you are studying for an exam that's coming up in a few days at school and you really haven't covered or studied all the material. You would need to pick up the pace so that you could get all your studying done on time. So in English, when we use the English phrase "pick up the pace," it means to speed up and go faster.

Sometimes when you start a project though, you want to start at a really fast pace right from the get-go. Hey that's a cool English phrase isn't it? Right from the beginning, right from the get-go, you might want to go full speed ahead. So the English phrase "to go full speed ahead" means to go at the fastest speed that you can go. We are really hoping that once this quarantine work from home, stay at home thing is done that everything will go back to normal and the economy will be full speed ahead. We're hoping that the economy will recover and that certainly all businesses will start to make money again and everything will just be full speed ahead. So again, just a little English lesson for you, to pick up the pace means to go faster, whether you're walking, running, or doing a project. And when you say that you want to go full speed ahead, it means that you want to go as fast as you can. Anyways, Bob the Canadian here, you're learning English with me, I hope you're having a good day.
