FARAMIR: (pointing towards the pool) Down there.
Frodo looks down to the pool and sees Gollum diving off a rock
FARAMIR: To enter the Forbidden Pool bears the penalty of death. (he gestures to archers standing with their bows drawn at Gollum on either side of him) They wait for my command. Shall I shoot?
Frodo looks very worried. Gollum climbs out of the pool with a fish. He slaps it on a rock
GOLLUM: The rock and pool
Is nice and cool
So juicy sweet
Our only wish
To catch a fish
So juicy sweet (the fish wriggles and Gollum slaps it harder on the rock)
Faramir raises his hand to signal to the archers to shoot. Frodo hesitates then shouts
FRODO: Wait. This creature is bound to me. And I to him. He is our guide. Please......Iet me go down to him.
Faramir nods and Frodo scrambles down to the pool to Gollum
FRODO: Smeagol. (Gollum looks up) Master is here. Come, Smeagol. Trust master. Come.
GOLLUM: (hesitates) We must go now?
FRODO: Smeagol, you must trust master. Follow me. Come on. Come. Come, Smeagol. Nice Smeagol. That's it. Come on.
Gollum puts the fish in his mouth and warily follows Frodo. Suddenly he is grabbed by the soliders
FRODO: Don't hurt him! (he looks frantically at the soldiers and back at Gollum) Smeagol, don't struggle. Smeagol, listen to me.
GOLLUM: Master!
The soldiers put a bag over his head and lead him away. In the cave they throw him to the ground and push him around. Faramir turns to the soldiers
FARAMIR: That's enough. (he turns to Gollum) Where are you leading them? (Gollum curls up in a ball with his back to him) Answer me.
GOLLUM: (talking to himself and stroking his back) Smeagol. Why does it cry, Smeagol?
SMEAGOL: (crying) Cruel Men hurts us. Master tricksed us. (Faramir looks on confused and interested)
GOLLUM: Of course he did. I told you he was tricksy. I told you he was false.
SMEAGOL: (sobs) Master is our friend. Our friend.
GOLLUM: Master betrayed us. (Faramir looks fascinated by what he is saying)
SMEAGOL: No. Not its business. Leave us alone!
GOLLUM: (hits his fist on the ground) Filthy little Hobbitses! They stole it from us!
SMEAGOL: No. No.
FARAMIR: What did they steal?
GOLLUM: (turns round to Faramir with a evil expression) My precious! (he bares his teeth and growls)
