Kenny Loggins was part of the duo Loggins & Messina, with Jim Messina, and had a big hit with "Your Momma Don't Dance" in 1972. Before that, Kenny had been in the group Second Helping, on Snuff Garrett's Viva label. Some of their recordings for Viva were engineered by JJ Cale. Years later, as a solo act, Kenny had Leon Russell join him for a re-recording of a Loggin's & Messina song titled "Long Tailed Cat." It had actually been recorded before Loggins & Messina did it, by Gator Creek, a group Loggins had been in in 1970. You probably know his title track hit to the Kevin Bacon film Footloose.
