Nataly’s Corner presents the music of British singer and songwriter Lisa Stansfield: It’s been said that when U.S. radio stations heard Lisa Stansfield on the song, “All around the World, they didn’t want to believe that this was the vocals of a British singer. Partially responsible for the confusion is the stereotyping of female voices, in which one makes an assumption that if the singer sings a song with rhythm and blues than she must be an African American female singer. Regardless of her national origin, Lisa Stansfield sings with such intensified soul and can belt out an R&B tune with the best of them. Lisa Stansfield started her music career after she won a “Search for A Star” talent contest in 1980. She released her first solo album, Affection”, in 1989 and was nominated for two Grammy’s. She has sold over twenty million albums worldwide and, along with that, received several awards [Brit Award, Ivor Novello, Billboard Award, World Award, ASCAP Award, Women’s World Award, Clef Award, and DMC Awards. Of course who can forget, that Lisa collaborated on some songs with the music "love guru", Mr. Barry White, and also released a version of the popular Barry White tune “Never Never Gonna Give You Up”.
