Kenji Kawai, born April 23, 1957 in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is a Japanese music composer, for motion pictures, anime movies, videogames and televised programs. He has contributed to the musical scores for numerous films from Japan and other countries in Asia, working in film genres as diverse as anime, horror, sci-fi and historical epic. Among his credits are Tsui Hark's The Seven Swords; Mamoru Oshii's films The Red Spectacles, StrayDog: Kerberos Panzer Cops, Ghost in the Shell and Avalon; the anime adaptations of Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku; and Hideo Nakata's films Ring, Ring 2, Chaos, Dark Water and Kaidan.

APOCALYPSE est une série de six documentaires sur la Seconde Guerre mondiale,
produite par la société CC&C à l'occasion du 70ème anniversaire de la
commémoration du début de la Seconde guerre Mondiale. Cette série distribuée à la télévision dans plus de 150 pays du monde en 2009 et 2010 sera diffusée
sur France 2 les 8, 15 et 22 Septembre. Avec en voix off Mathieu Kassowitz, Apocalypse donne aussi la belle part aux musiques avec la participation de Kenji Kawai, compositeur japonais de renom, ayant notamment composé les bandes originales de Ghost in the Shell, Avalon ou encore The Ring.
