Is Susquehanna worse than Citadel? Susquehanna is both a quant investment company as well as a equities and options market maker. Susquehanna International Group (SIG) holds a large short position on AMC of almost14 million Puts, as well as 236,000 shares and 17 million calls (source 13F filed 8-11-21). As a market maker, Susquehanna is legally allowed to create naked shorts (synthetics) if engaging in bona fide market making. An example would be creating naked shorts to hedge an options position. Many people are wondering if this practice is being abused right under the nose of regulators. Susquehanna's founder, Jeff Yass is a large political donor, including donations to Senate Finance Committee member Patrick Toomey. Some would consider this 'buying influence' for Mr. Yass's personal and business needs. This is another area needing further investigation.
