"The Ballad of High Noon" (also known as "High Noon) was published in 1952, with music by Dimitri Tiomkin and lyrics by Ned Washington. It is the theme song of the movie High Noon with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly and sung by Tex Ritter. It's tune repeated throughout the film and was awarded for the 1952 Academy Award for Best Original Song. In the 1950s, Frankie Laine made a kind of second career by singing a long list of title songs for Hollywood films. His passionate and energetic interpretation of “High Noon” immediately earned him international fame and popularity. I was inspired to cover this song by seeing the Western movie “Forsaken” with both Donald and Kiefer Sutherland on T.V. one night.
