It’s International Women's Day so I thought I’d do a quick cover of one of the women who made me want to write songs. When I first heard Lori McKenna’s album, Paper Wings and Halo, it felt like everything came into focus. This song has followed me through my life. When I first heard it I understood it as a kid who was feeling down. When I moved away to college I understood it as an older brother who felt too far away to help his siblings navigate growing up. Then I understood it as a Special Education Teacher. Now with kids of my own I see it through an entirely different lens. Go tell the women who have been important in your life how much they mean to you.
