Please read the description!

Guess what? I'm doing a Nuzlocke Challenge Run! And the pokemon are randomized too, so I have no idea what will show up! It could include anything from Gen I to Gen III. A friend generated. The challenge doesn't begin until I get my first Pokeballs, and there will be a lot of grinding.

I played Sapphire on a cartridge, but this is my first time with Emerald, and I've played every generation so far, so I have a good amount of experience with this game series. That said, I also fainted my only pokemon on my test-run due to 4x effectiveness and a critical, so I guess this will be pretty difficult.

Simplified Rules:
-Can only catch one pokemon per area transition
-Fainting is considered death (permanent loss of use)

Here are the rules to my run copy-pasted from Bulbapedia and edited slightly(not yet finalized):

Nuzlocke Challenge Rules(an introduction)
1. Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released.(more on this later)
2. The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a Double Battle in dark grass, the player may choose which of the two Pokémon they would like to catch.(more on this later)
3. While not exactly a definite rule, the general consensus is that players must also nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
4. Also not a definite rule, but the general consensus is that a black out/white out is considered to be "game over", even if there are Pokémon left in the PC.
Some Additional Rules/Characteristics for this run:
5. Adjusting the first encounter rule to ban duplicate captures.
6. Not officially enforcing the rules until the player has Poké Balls and can catch Pokémon. For example, the ZigzagoonRS/PoochyenaE that the player has to save Professor Birch from is not counted as the first encounter on the route, and not counting any other encounters as such until they can catch. Likewise, in the games where the rival battle is immediately after getting the starter Pokémon, the "any that faint must be released" rule is not enforced at that time.
7. Rather than releasing the Pokémon, it can be permanently boxed, migrated, or transferred with Poké Transfer should it happen to faint.
8. All Pokemon were randomly generated for this run; all of the starter pokemon are not starters in any other generation (I was given a rom). This means that evolved pokemon can appear and be caught in the wild.
9. As far as I am aware, Gym Leaders, Rivals, Elite Four, and Pokemon Trainers will all have random teams
10. I have practically no information about which Pokemon will appear at any location, as I am not the person who generated the pokemon
11. National Pokedex unlocked at start (for diversity of pokemon)
12. As another mercy rule, if the player runs into a Shiny Pokémon on the incredibly rare chance, the player may still catch it, regardless of whether or not it is the first encounter in the area. It also does not need to be released if it faints.
13. If the player has no Pokémon that can use a certain field move that is required to continue through any given point of the game, they may catch another Pokémon that can learn said field move. However, it cannot be used in battle for any reason, and must be released, permanently boxed, or migrated as soon as the player gets another Pokémon that can use said field move.
14. I plan on catching the legendaries, but if it isn't the first Pokemon in the area, I won't use it in the run. I might just do it after the Elite 4 or something, or when the challenge is over.
15. All names of Pokemon will be based off of characters from video games
16. Trade-evolutions have been changed to stone evolutions or evolution through level-up
Clarification:
• Areas are defined by the area transitions present in the game
