CHARTS: "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" entered the Billboard R&B charts on May 17, 1952. It reached #1 . It stayed there for 7 weeks and 26 weeks on the charts.
This was a huge record for Lloyd, and through this record and succes, Fats and Dave would reunite and renew their partnership. (although it would take several months, Fats had just one more session with Al Young to go).
There is another version recorded by Lloyd on the same day (take 1, released on Specialty CD-2168, but it's almost certain that Salvador Doucette takes the piano part. Dave was not satisfied with his playing and asked Fats to join at the session).
