It's funny how music can attach itself to a memory, I wrote 'All the Things We've Been Through' over a period of time when I was really coming to terms with my dad's dementia, I particularly remember writing the main melodies after noticing just how much he had changed and how much further the illness has taken him than I had initially realised, I got back to my studio and just started playing around, deep in thought, I wasn't even aware that I was working in 3/4 time at this point, it was only when I started working on the drums that I realised and this was much later, after the melodies had been with me for some time and really cemented themselves attached to this memory.
