It's not correct to say that the mind is deluded by this illusion of separateness because there is no individual mind to be deluded. When an ego is fooled by a mirage in this world, it's a delusion within a primary delusion: the world itself. In the case of the mirage, the delusion is external to the mind (as it's understood to be an ego), but this primary delusion is the mind itself which is the universe itself.
