This talk explores the results of recent research by PhD researcher Edward Stewart into the post-medieval uplands of Glencoe, particularly the relationship between shieling practice and related upland practices within Gleann Leac-na-Muidhe, and the changing use of the uplands between the 16th and 19th centuries. Based on extensive walkover surveys and excavations a story of control and management within these environments is explored considering how local elites projected their power within the uplands.
