This was actually the very first country song that I had a fully finished master of - back in 2021!! It’s a song I wrote while I wrestled with being both openly gay and Christian - I thought I couldn’t be both, and my atheist ex (whom the song is about) thought I couldn’t either and told me that I should give up on religion entirely. I knew that couldn’t be the answer, and so I left. Alcohol seems to be a common denominator in country music, and my ex and I always drank Summer Shandy together…hence the title of the song. ❤️
