For our 39th cool album, we've chosen Thinkman's brilliant debut album, "The Formula." Released in 1986, Thinkman was essentially a Rupert Hine solo project, and a commentary on the influence of mass media.
In this episode, we listen to the last two tracks on side A, track 4, "Legend," and track 5, "The Ecstacy of Free Thought." Legend sounds like a synth-pop or New Wave song, but the lyrics are considerably deeper than a pop song usually requires. And the last track on side A is another jamming anthem to the power of critical thinking in the face of information overload.

As a side note, Dell was in a band back in the late '80s -- Dream the Sky (Shreveport, LA) -- and they covered "The Ecstacy of Free Thought.
