Nature can be incredibly cruel and tough to understand. None more so than choosing to watch another animal die.
One morning in Lower Zambezi National Park, whilst staying at Old Mondoro, I was awoken by the sound of a buffalo bellowing. There's no other sound like it, and when you've heard it once before you'll always know when you hear it again.
We left camp at first light and soon after found these lions camped out next to the buffalo bull, already badly injured.
What followed, was 17 hours of incredibly raw nature! That buffalo mounted an intense fight, really took it to the lions. The lions were young and not experienced, it showed throughout the day.
I know many will not understand why I filmed this, and did not try and help the buffalo. It's not my place to interfere. This buffalo would have had many previous encounters with lions, maybe even mortaly wounded them in the past. Today, was just not his day and the young lions gained life-experience.
