I am a Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the two hundred and sixty fifth day of the war.

Day 265: November 15

From bad news, the Russians once again conducted a massive missile strike. The reasons are two-fold. Firstly, politically they needed to cover up their utter defeat in the Kherson region, at least somehow, because losing territory without any noticeable retaliation increases the tensions inside Russia by a substantial margin. Russian authorities have also found out that the Russian public loves these airstrikes because it is perceived as a showcase of the great power of their state that many Russians take pride in. So, this immediately creates some positive feedback and mitigates discontent.

Secondly, President Zelensky gave a speech at the G20 summit, where he restated the conditions for negotiations, to which the Russian Foreign Minister responded by saying that the conditions are purposefully unrealistic and only serve as an indirect way to deny the possibility of negotiations. So, the massive missile strike also supposedly should punish Ukraine and force Zelensky to reconsider.

The Russians launched more than 90 rockets. The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office reported that around 70 rockets were shot down, while 15 infrastructure facilities suffered severe damage. He also added that the situation was very critical because, for the most part, the targets of the strike became substations, which caused probably the biggest blackout we witnessed.

Unfortunately, a lot of civilians have been harmed. In Kyiv, several rockets hit residential buildings. And also, due to the missile strike, around 500 workers got stuck in the coal mines of Kryvyi Rih. Rescue is already on the way.

As the British Foreign Minister concluded, these heartless and desperate missile strikes show how weak Putin is. Russia is losing on all fronts, including the diplomatic front.

However, it seems like Ukraine is not the only country that suffered from the missile strike. Some reports suggest that one rocket landed in Poland and killed two people. High officials have already summoned a defense committee, and all the details will be available later. So far, it has not been confirmed that this is a Russian rocket. Some sources have already compared the fragments found in Poland to different rockets and found that it looks like a rocket from the air defense system S-300, so it is possible that the Russian rocket triggered a Ukrainian air defense rocket, which missed it and fell on Poland. Right now, nothing is confirmed, and I don’t know how this is going to develop, I just hope that it will be sorted out somehow without escalation. Escalation is definitely bad for everyone.

Now, let’s talk about the good news. Even though there has been no official confirmation from the Ukrainian General Staff about Ukrainian advances in the Kherson region, some Russian media sources started to speculate that Ukrainians might indeed control certain parts of the peninsula because it is a deserted and hard-to-control area. What is important here is the evolution of the narrative and the gradual preparation of the Russian public for more defeats. Two days ago, they utterly denied any hostilities directed toward Kinburn. Yesterday they said that there was an attack but that they successfully repelled it. And today, they say that Ukrainian sabotage groups may as well be present on the peninsula, but they are too weak to pose a threat.

Next, the Ukrainian General Staff mentioned in separate reports that, firstly, the Russians are moving their bases away from Skadovsk and move towards Henychesk. And secondly, the Russians are withdrawing even from the eastern bank of the Dnipro River. That is why a lot of Ukrainian officials have been hinting that Oleshky and some other settlements close to the river are returning to Ukraine. The reason behind withdrawing is simple. The Russians are controlling the lowlands that are very hard to defend because Ukrainians have total fire control of up 8 km of the ground from the river. That is why the actual defense line may be located way behind. Nonetheless, this is still very bad news for the Russians. Leaving this area in the grey zone only puts them at a disadvantage because if the Ukrainians managed to cross the Oskil River and push the Russians tens of kilometers back than nothing really stops them from doing it here, especially if this area is empty. Overall, the front line here is not as stable as the Russians might want it, which increases the probability of the front line collapsing till Crimea. But I think that if this attack happens, it will be a supporting attack for the offensive operation in the Zaporizhzhia region.
