And yes, those of us who are in relationships, we know are doomed will know the feeling I've been waiting so long for you. There is such overwhelming sadness in this song; it cuts to the very heart. In the end, the couple are reunited...”
"Whenever I listen to this song, I always feel that Neil was trying to convey a feeling of a ‘cold water’ morning, metaphorically speaking… that empty, shivery, cold feeling of being alone… sort of how someone would feel if they would have ‘cold water’ tossed over them and their emotions… it’s like being alone in the dark of the night… that same ’empty’ feeling… and longing for something more.
